Why is having an EHR so important to your practice?
Having an EHR is so important to my practice because, number one, I need something that will house all my important patient information. And not only that, it’s cloud based and also HIPA compliant. And so the electronic medical record is available on all forums, on all platforms, for example, it’s easily accessible on my cell phone, my smartphone, and on my laptops, on my computers and on my iPads. And so I think that it’s really important for the ease of use. And you’re not like, flipping through paper charts. And it’s you can find it, it’s readily available and it helps save on time.
How has Symplast impacted your ability to provide clinical care?
Symplast has helped us with the daily workflow and has made life very easy for us in terms of the workflow. So it’s our one stop shop where we go for pretty much everything, like the notes, the scheduling appointments, our photos that we like to use. And then the back end with the financials and the analytics so that we can determine some of our ROIs and our revenues and where we’re hitting the targets and where we’re missing the target. So that definitely helps us provide us with the information that we need so that we could grow the business.
What have your patients said about the Symplast patient app?
The patients have told us that they really like the app because they can get ahold of us on the phone and text us and they can even book their own appointments and they even have access to their own medical records. And so it makes it really, really easy for them to use the program.
What is your team’s favorite feature of the Symplast suite?
According to my team and myself, they really like the ease of use and you can use it on the iPhone, the Android, you can use it on the iPad, the laptops. They like, the templates. They are so, they can do a note for me and like 2 minutes. And so they really like the fact that we have the templates and they just put in, they customize it to whatever the patient’s needs are and then they save the note and then that’s it. Then they’re done.
What would you say to a new practice debating on starting with a basic EHR instead of something comprehensive?
So I think in my own opinion is that it’s better to invest in a electronic medical record software company that provides you the support from the beginning, because if you don’t, what’s going to happen is that it’s going to cost you more money in the long run. So for me, I had about several thousands of patients that I needed to convert or actually enter into the new EHR system. If you have to keep doing that and keep changing because the current system you have is not meeting your needs, then that’s going to be more expensive and time consuming in the long run. And that is not good. So I think as far as like doing it right, the first time is the best way to do it. You know, just spend the time, learn the system and invest in quality software that’s going to help you with your daily workflow.
What would you tell other practices thinking about making the change to Symplast?
I would tell them to upgrade to Symplast because it’s going to make your life so much easier. So I use that platform for everything from my scheduling with appointments to communicating with the patients, having my progress notes documented as well as my photos, also my analytics. And so everything is just really, really simple. And I think if you just start off on the right note where you have the right tools and platform, then it’ll make your life a lot easier.
