How has Symplast impacted your ability to provide clinical care?
Symplast has given me the opportunity to have a transparent, secure way to communicate not just with my team but also with my patients, which of course, translates into clinical care. So, to me, the fact that our patients have access to their records, can pose questions or concerns to us at any time, allows them to even have a personalized care. So, it’s more along the lines of concierge service that’s really on brand for us.
How have your patients responded to using the Symplast app?
My patients have actually told us how impressed they have been with our ability to really quickly answer their questions, address their concerns. So it gives them almost peace of mind that they really have access to our team 24/7, even after hours, which eliminates that third party or answering service that patients don’t feel comfortable with. They don’t know who’s on the other line. But the ability to get in touch with us with just a click of a finger means so much to them, and that’s what they’ve said has been really a differentiating factor for us.
Before Symplast, what system were you using to chart and run your practice?
We were using Nextech, actually.
How has Symplast impacted your day-to-day workflow?
So the day-to-day workflow for my team with Symplast has actually, I would say it’s just integrated so perfectly into my really small boutique plastic surgery practice. I started my practice and used Symplast right away because it was highly recommended to me and I can genuinely say that it’s provided this perfect user-friendly experience for our staff, and it’s the only platform we use.
It has everything that we need and anything from the ability to prescribe medication or store all of our patient documents and photos, not print a single thing that doesn’t need to be printed or stored, and most importantly, allow us to deliver this great high-quality patient care.
What is your favorite Symplast feature?
My favorite tool is this comparison feature that Symplast offers. It allows you to show in real-time, before-and-after, that’s professional and standardized, and you can talk about it with your patients. It comes up during your visit, and all of a sudden, you can show exactly, precisely, what you see and be able to communicate it in a way that I’ve never seen possible in any other electronic medical record. So I think it allows that standard, professional way to deliver care, which is important in plastic surgery.
Before Symplast, what system were you using to chart and run your practice?
I used Epic. I’ve used, what else? Cerner. I have been exposed to some of the other more not so much individual like institutionalized types of electronic medical records, but with every medical record I’ve used on the institutional side, it had its own problems, and with Symplast, I don’t see the need of having a need for anything else, actually. So from a professional standpoint, it’s basically been able to address all of my needs.
How has Symplast affected your work-life balance?
For me, it’s the ability to connect remotely, which gives me a little bit of peace of mind and work-life balance. So, I know exactly what’s going on even when I’m not physically in the office, and I’m not present in real-time, I can see everything, every communication between my patients and my team. I don’t have to waste time worrying what is being said or the delivery of care that my patients receive. And so it gives me that flexibility, you know, in my day-to-day.
What was the deciding factor for switching to Symplast?
In order to really deliver quality care, I really needed something that was transparent and secure. And so I was told, and I had a lot of highly respected colleagues of mine tell me, that this is something that they’ve used in their practice and has gone really well. And I like the idea that it’s dynamic. Symplast is constantly reviewing feedback and implementing change, even as recently as this weekend, that delivers better platforms and more beautiful platforms in every update that they have. So, I like the dynamic aspect as well.
What would you tell other practices thinking about making the change to Symplast?
So I would say that Symplast is by far the easiest EMR for my office staff to use, and the best EMR for my patients to use in my own little boutique plastic surgery practice. I really only had to invest in one platform. It helped us to really focus on the care of our patients and allow us to grow organically in the most transparent way possible. So, we partner with our patients in making decisions about surgery and investing in their health. And this is the way we found to streamline the delivery of that information, make it so they have access to everything, and give our patients the comfort and the desire to recommend us wholeheartedly to their friends and their family. And the place, for me it’s Dallas, where there are so many wonderful plastic surgeons in the community, it’s given us a way to differentiate ourselves, and that’s because of the care we’re able to provide, and that care is on brand, and it’s really with the help of Symplast in order to really make that possible.
